Land fraud is a pervasive issue in Uganda, impacting individuals like Namaganda, who found her house up for sale while she was away. This fraud is often perpetrated through fake titles and sometimes assisted by corrupt officials, as highlighted by Andrew Bashaija, the judge heading the land division at the High Court. While the Ugandan government is implementing a digital land registry (UGNLIS) to combat this, accessibility and transparency remain significant challenges.

Empowering communities by providing free access to basic land information and leveraging the knowledge of local leaders and community representatives. Land Guard aims to reduce land fraud and increase trust in land transactions by providing an accessible platform for verifying land ownership and flagging suspicious activities. It is a model for transparent and accountable land management systems.
